I am originally from the east cost I wasn’t introduced to the Chicago hot dog until last year, and though I lived next to the infamous Weiner Circle I found my self-going to the Dog House on a daily basis. When you walk in you will see tables made from old bowling alleys and hundred year old barns and though it is small it has a great staff, in fact most days if you go during the day you can see the one of the two owners who will happily talk to you about anything on the menu. This place has, to say the least, an interesting selection of meats, with everything from the Chicago staple Vienna beef to Gator to Buffalo, and it is always changing. Along with the standard Chicago dog they always have new and different recipes for great tasting sausage, such as the BLT dog or the French Poodle (Brie cheese, Grey Poupon, and Pear). Keeping in the vein of not being normal they have a great twist on chips. The Frip, it is a fresh made chip, and I must recommend you try it with cheese at least once. Before you leave, take a chance, try the Deep Fried Twinkie.
